About Michael Labertew

Michael Labertew attended the University of Utah in 1989 and earned his bar admission during the same year. Michael Labertew is a managing partner of Labertew & Associates, LLC, which Mr. Labertew founded  after he attended University of Utah College of Law in Salt Lake City. Mr. Labertew earned his Juris Doctorate in 1989 from the University of Utah College of Law, and proceeded to study for the bar exam, which he passed in 1989.

Over the past 25 years, Mr. Labertew has been a trusted legal advisor and business consultant for individuals and small to medium sized businesses. He has assisted domestic and foreign companies expand in the U.S. and abroad, and has advised dozens of emerging companies in their transition from a private company to a public issuer of securities, via public and private offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and business reorganizations.

For over 25 years, Michael Labertew has acted as both a legal advisor and consultant for a range of small to medium sized businesses.

Following the economic crisis, he assisted numerous high net worth individuals and businesses in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. According to the Bankruptcy Code, a debtor who is an individual, corporation, or a partnership can file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. During a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, the trustee gathers the clients

A chapter 7 bankruptcy case does not involve the filing of a plan of repayment as in chapter 13. Instead, the bankruptcy trustee gathers and sells the debtor’s nonexempt assets and uses the proceeds of such assets to pay holders of claims (creditors) in accordance with the provisions of the Bankruptcy Code. Part of the debtor’s property may be subject to liens and mortgages that pledge the property to other creditors. In addition, the Bankruptcy Code will allow the debtor to keep certain “exempt” property; but a trustee will liquidate the debtor’s remaining assets. Accordingly, potential debtors should realize that the filing of a petition under chapter 7 may result in the loss of property.

He has served clients in a wide range of industries, including software development, pharmaceutical, medical devices, oil & gas production, internet architecture and infrastructure, semiconductors, retail, and numerous service providers and product manufacturers. His current and former clients span the U.S. and the globe, including Canada, U.K. and Continental Europe, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, India, Panama, Mexico, U.A.E., Australia and the majority of the 50 states.

Non-Profit Work

Michael Labertew is very active within his community and is very passionate about giving back. He is a former board member of the Park City Performing Arts Foundation, the Eccles Center in Park City and the Deer Valley Music Festival. Additionally, Mr. Labertew is the Founder and President of Riverbridge, a faith-infused mainstream media company that entertains, engages and transforms. Riverbridge creates original, authentic content that bridges cultures, languages and religions through films, television programs (drama, reality, late night talk), music, website communities and applications.
